Panic time
Oh, holy crap! I just realized that I start a new job on Monday and I have at least a THOUSAND things to do! Plus, my psyche is still in vacation mode and I didn't wake up until 10:30 this morning and here I am, at 11:40, still blog-surfing in my pajamas.Short vacations are better than no vacations at all, but the lack of decompression time is hard on the system. I'm trying to force my brain to focus on the tasks at hand and it's saying, "but I want to watch another moo-vie" in an irritating whiny tone. It doesn't help that I've been only doing free lance work, at my own pace, for the last 3 months. Discipline, baby, that's what I need!
I need to pick my van up where it's been being serviced while we were gone and open a new bank account to have my checks auto-deposited into and go to the agency I'm working through and sign papers. And, and.... do laundry and clean the vacation debris out of my purse and do some grocery shopping and buy a new lunch cooler to take my salads to work in and, hey! I just made myself a list to get started with, at least.
Farther down on my list of things to do would be to download all the pics from my camera and open a Flickr account and read those helpful emails SJ sent me about how to make my blog site better and more personalized. Obviously, if I'm going to keep this up, I need to get further into the technical aspects. So far, all I'm doing is keeping an online diary. Which serves my emotional need to vent, but doesn't really qualify me as a real blogger. When Kevin and Hilly and SJ start throwing around terms like Word Press and TypePad and Technorati and Web-based interface all I hear is blah blah blahdy blah. And isn't BlueHost that Vegas enertainment act?
Well, now it's noon and my laundry is done and I HAVE to get in the shower. Vacation GOOD. Reality BAD.

Don't worry about the technicalities of blogging. You'll catch on quickly. Hilly and I have only been doing this since the middle of last year. Look how far we've come. Karl, too. If we can, you can.

LMAO.....just like Kevin said; actually he is half right about me. I was on blogger before the middle of last year, then ventured to my own site and then to TypePad and have learned all HTML and CSS along the way. Karl JUST showed me Flickr the other day and it is easy peasy. Worry about WordPress and The BlueHost Group later on. I recommend TypePad if you want to pay and have high functionability without worry.
Also, I've been known to set up and design blogs and stuff for free to something on my wishlist...it is my "thang" I guess. I am known as the banner maker around the PRB.
I am venturing into very uncharted waters here with my WordPress so I may need you to slip me a valium too.
What is your new job, btw????
Kevin - Thanks for reminding me. And for the encouragement. I know I can learn and I should have a bit of a jump on the graphics part of it all, anyway because:
Hilly - Believe it or not (considering my insecurities) I'm a graphic designer by trade. The new job is revamping the image of a large bio-tech firm here in San Diego. I'm one of a team of 5 that will be re-formatting all the labeling, forms and inserts for their product line. When I figure out what I want my site to look like, I'll definitely appreciate some help. We'll work something out, for sure.

I didn't mean to pressure you by sending that stuff. But you know my memory, if I don't send it when I first see it, it'll never get done. Just stash 'em until you're ready to tackle your site design. But being a "real blogger" is about the WORDS, not the design. I just knew eventually the artist in you would start demanding equal time.
Flickr is possibly one of the most user-friendly services on the web. Piece o' spongecake, baby.
